Terms of Use

Last updated: October 17, 2026

Please read these terms before using Pistr. Pistr is a companion for your ski day – not a replacement for your own judgement on the mountain.

1. Scope and provider

These terms apply to the Pistr app for iPhone and iPad and to the website pistr.donner.io. Pistr is provided by Dennis Donner, sole proprietor, Eduard-v-Winterstein-Straße 11, 14480 Potsdam, Germany (see the legal notice).

How personal data is processed is described in the privacy policy.

2. Account

Using Pistr requires an account. You can sign up with email and password or with Sign in with Apple. Please provide accurate information and keep your login details safe; you are responsible for activity under your account.

You can delete your account at any time in the app under Account → Delete account. I may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly breach these terms; where reasonable, I will warn you first.

3. Friends and shared content

You can connect with friends using invitation links or QR codes and compare statistics with them. Only invite people who want to connect with you. Snow and piste condition reports you submit should reflect your own observations honestly.

Do not use Pistr to harass, track or monitor other people against their will, to post unlawful or offensive content, or to interfere with the service or its infrastructure. You keep the rights to your content; you allow me to store and display it as needed to provide the features you use.

4. GPS tracking and statistics are estimates

Runs, lifts, distance, speed, vertical, duration and calories are calculated from your device’s location sensors and are estimates. Accuracy depends on GPS reception, terrain, device and settings. Values may be incomplete or wrong and are not suitable for timing, competition, medical or safety purposes.

5. Weather, snow and piste information

Weather forecasts, snow information, piste and lift data as well as reports from other users come from third-party sources and the community. I cannot guarantee that this information is correct, complete or current. Pistes and lifts may be closed, rerouted or in a different condition than shown.

6. Your safety on the mountain

You are responsible for your own safety. Pistr is not a safety, avalanche or rescue tool.

  • Always follow official signs, closures, instructions from resort staff and the local avalanche bulletin.
  • Follow the FIS rules of conduct for skiers and snowboarders.
  • Do not ski off-piste or into closed areas on the strength of information in the app.
  • Do not look at or operate your phone while skiing, riding a lift in a way that endangers you or others, or in any other situation where it distracts you.
  • In an emergency, call the local emergency number or mountain rescue directly.

7. Maps and navigation

Maps are based on OpenStreetMap and other map and satellite sources. Map data can be incomplete or out of date. Routes suggested by the app are a planning aid only: they do not consider current closures, conditions, difficulty for you personally or hazards. Always check the route on site.

8. In-app purchases

Some features, such as route planning, offline maps and satellite maps, can be unlocked through in-app purchases. Purchases are made and paid through Apple’s App Store under your Apple Account. The scope and current terms of each purchase are shown in the App Store and in the app before you buy.

Where a purchase renews automatically, you can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Refund requests are handled by Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. Restoring purchases is available in the app. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

9. Apple terms

In addition to these terms, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to your use of the app. If these terms and Apple’s EULA conflict, these terms prevail to the extent permitted. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no support or maintenance obligations for it.

10. Availability and changes

I work to keep Pistr available, but I cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation. Features, data sources and supported ski areas may change, be extended or be discontinued. If I change these terms in a way that affects you, I will inform you in the app or on this page in good time.

11. Liability

I am liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where I have given a guarantee. For slight negligence, I am only liable for breach of an essential contractual obligation (an obligation whose fulfilment makes proper performance possible and on which you may regularly rely), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded.

12. Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you habitually reside remain unaffected.

Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.
